Tori Vega (Victoria Justice) is the title character and main protagonist of the show. She is 16 years old and attends Hollywood Arts, a performing arts school. She previously attended Sherwood High. She is half Latina on her father's side and knows Spanish. She is depicted as creative, nice, caring, forgiving, responsible, positive, easy-going, caring and friendly, though she can be sneaky and vindictive, going as low as to manipulate her friends and family, but she'll always do the right thing.
While trying to help her older sister Trina with her performance for Hollywood Arts' big showcase, she befriends her sister's partner, Andre Harris, and they quickly become best friends. On the day of the showcase, after Trina's tongue becomes swollen, Tori is forced to take her place. Nervous at first, Tori performs "Make it Shine" (the show's theme song), and becomes a huge hit. After her performance, principal Eikner offers Tori a chance to attend Hollywood Arts. Although hesitant at first, with the support of her family and a standing ovation from the crowd, Tori accepts and begins studying her talent of singing, acting and dancing. At first, Tori feels out of place at Hollywood Arts, feeling she is not good enough. Soon she quickly makes new friends and feels more comfortable.
In the beginning of the series, she has several disputes with Jade, though she tries her best to become friends with her. She is always there for her friends, including Jade, which later compels Jade to warm up to her. Tori is shown to care for her friends and family a lot and is willing to help them no matter what. Tori is also allergic to bush daisies, as revealed in "Tori Gets Stuck."
