Gon Freecss

Gon Freecss (ゴン=フリークス Gon FurÄ«kusu^?) is the twelve-year-old protagonist of Hunter × Hunter. Prior to the start of the series, Gon's father Ging leaves Gon as an infant in the care of his cousin Mito in his hometown of Whale Island. Seven years later, Gon meets his father's apprentice, Kite, who proceeds to tell him of his father's existence and occupation as a professional Hunter. Their meeting steers Gon towards deciding to search for Ging and to take the Hunter Exam. Gon wants to become a Hunter in order to understand the reason behind why his father chose the profession over being with him. He is naturally talented in a variety of ways, including superhuman senses, uncanny learning potential, social skills, and immense strength. However, Gon is simultaneously prone to influence by things he finds intriguing regardless of their inherent ethics. His recklessness often leads him into getting into situations harmful to himself. Gon's temper causes him to be extremely irrational in judgment, vindictive, selfish, and ultimately self-destructive.
